The Finance Minister in May 2020 allocated Rs 1 lakh crore for the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund to support post-harvest management and community farming assets.

The role of infrastructure is crucial for the development of agriculture, especially in the post-harvest phase to maximize the utilization of produce with value addition opportunities and a fair deal for farmers.












The development of such infrastructure will also address the vagaries of nature, regional disparities, human resource development, and realize the full potential of our limited land resources.

Keeping the above in mind, the Finance Minister on 15th May 2020 announced 1 Lakh Crore Agri Infrastructure Fund for Farmgate infrastructure for farmers.












1,00,000 crore will be provided for funding agricultural infrastructure projects at farm gate and aggregation points (Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies, Farmers Producer Organizations, Agriculture Entrepreneurs, Start-Ups etc.) financing facility of Rs.

Farm gate and aggregation point, driving the development of affordable and financially viable post-harvest management infrastructure.












Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has mobilized the medium-term loan financing facility for investment in post-harvest management infrastructure and viable projects related to community farming assets through incentives and financial assistance. A central sector scheme has been developed.
