The National Awards portal opened nominations on August 15, 2023 with the last date for submission being September 15, 2023. The awards are divided into three categories: Certificate of Merit, Memento and Cash Prize. They aim to recognize and encourage dairy farmers, dairy cooperative societies/FPOs, and artificial insemination technicians.

Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy is inviting online nominations for National Gopal Ratan Award 2023. National Award Portaland the submission deadline is September 15, 2023.












The department, working under the Ministry of Fisheries, Livestock and Dairying, is dedicated to promoting the development of the livestock and dairy sector to provide sustainable livelihoods to farmers. The indigenous bovine breeds of India are robust and have the genetic potential to contribute significantly to the national economy. To achieve this objective, the “Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM)” was launched in December 2014 as the country’s first attempt to scientifically conserve and develop indigenous cattle breeds.

As a part of RGM, and with the objective of encouraging dairy farmers, Dairy Cooperative Societies/FPOs, and Artificial Insemination Technicians (AITs), the Department presents the National Gopal Ratan Award 2023 in various categories.












  • Best Dairy Farmer Breeding of Registered Indigenous Cattle/Buffalo (List of Registered Breeds Attached).

  • Best Dairy Cooperative Society (DCS) / Milk Producing Company (MPC) / Dairy Farmer Producer Organization (FPO).

  • Best Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT).

The National Gopal Ratan Award 2023 consists of a certificate of merit, a memento and a cash prize in the first two categories i.e. Best Dairy Farmer and Best DCS/FPO/MPCs as follows:

  • 5,00,000/- (Rupees Five Lakhs only) for First Class

  • 3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lakhs only) for second place.

  • 2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs only) for third level

In the case of the Best Artificial Insemination Technician (AIT) category, the award for all three ranks will consist of a certificate of merit and a memento only.
