Today we’re catching up with Malgorzata Galietti.

About 30 years ago I bought a ‘Red Lion’ amaryllis. (Hipsterum ‘Red Lion’, zones 8-10 or as a houseplant) and sent it to my grandmother Helena, who lived in Krakow, Poland, to help it survive especially cold weather. He loved it! She herself was a gardener and horticulturist, so ‘Red Lion’ was much appreciated. At the time, it was impossible to find amaryllis bulbs in Poland. Fast forward to a gloomy winter of 2020; I remembered how much joy and happiness an amaryllis bulb brought to my grandmother, so I got ‘Pink Surprise’ to sprinkle some cheer during the epidemic winter blues.
