Today we are leaving for India to visit Saroj Sahni’s beautiful garden. Saroj lives in Shyamkhet, Uttarakhand, a village in the north of the country.
The weather here has been a pleasant experience, especially the smell. The morning starts with birds chirping, the sunrise behind the hills and the morning light on the trees. The flowers are simply magical, and the changing light on the hillside compliments them with amazing views.
A beautiful rose blooms against the backdrop of the mountains behind. What a magical setting for this garden!
In North America, we are used to seeing amaryllis (Hippeastrum hybrids, zones 8-11) are grown indoors as houseplants in winter. But in warmer climates, they can grow outdoors as beautiful flowering perennials.
The lush garden invites you to discover what is hidden behind the greenery.
The house is beautiful and sits right in the garden.
Southern Magnolia (Magnolia Grand FloraZones 7–10) is native to the southeastern United States but is popular in gardens in warmer parts of the world for its glossy foliage and beautiful, large white flowers.
