Neeraj Chopra won gold in Asian Games 2023, Kishore Jena won silver.

In a historic moment, India’s world number one javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China on October 4. He achieved this feat with a season’s best throw of 88.88 meters. The victory allowed Chopra to successfully defend her title and retain her top ranking position in the world, which she achieved with a stunning throw of 88.88 meters in her final attempt. Kishore Jaina of India bagged the silver medal with a best throw of 87.54m.

The Athletics Federation of India shared pictures of Neeraj Chopra and Kishore Jena on social media to celebrate their achievements with the caption, “Javelin…while @Neeraj_chopra1 defends his title. Kishore Kumar Jena takes silver # won the Asian Games.”

President Draupadi Murmu spoke on the occasion congratulating Neeraj and expressed happiness over India’s record-breaking number of medals in the Asian Games. In his message, he said, “I am happy to announce that India has bagged the most medals ever in the Asian Games.” President Murmu also lauded the outstanding achievements of Ojas Praveen Devtale and Jyothi Srikha Venam who won gold medals in the compound mixed team event.

He gave special recognition to Neeraj Chopra for his gold medal in the javelin throw event and praised the Indian men’s team for their stellar performance in the 4x400m relay event.
