Mahindra’s Farm Division, a part of Mahindra’s Farm Equipment segment, has reached a major milestone in its commitment to skill development and global expansion. They have sent their first batch of ten skilled workers to Japan as part of the Japan Technical Intern Training Program (TITP).
The departure ceremony, led by Mr. Hemant Sikka, President, Farm Equipment Sector (FES) at Mahindra & Mahindra Limited and other company officials, was held at Mahindra’s facility in Kandivali, Mumbai. The event coincided with the auspicious occasions of Anant Chaturdashi and Eid Milad. These ten workers will go to Nagoya, Japan, where they will undergo mandatory training of 4-6 weeks with the support of the Japanese government.
Mahindra is sending workers from its tractor manufacturing facilities to Mitsubishi Mahindra Agricultural Machinery in Japan for a one-year on-the-job training program. Selected employees from Zaheerabad, Nagpur, and Rudrapur conducted workshops to understand Japanese culture. Mr. Hemant Sikka from Mahindra Farm Equipment Division expressed his appreciation for the commitment to ‘Transforming Farming and Enhancing Life’ and praised Japan’s TITP program emphasizing its inclusive workplace. He thanked the program partners as well as the governments of India and Japan for their support in realizing his vision.
Mr. Sikka’s goal in selecting the ten individuals is to enhance their technical skills through on-the-job training in Japan, with plans for them to implement best practices at Mahindra’s facilities upon their return. Japan’s TITP program, established in 1993, promotes skills transfer and international cooperation by providing training to individuals from developing countries, contributing to human resource development and economic development in participating regions. . A Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between India’s Ministry of Skill Development and Industrialization (MSDE) and various Japanese ministries launched the Skill Development Cooperation in 2017, where Indian candidates intern in Japan for three to five years.
