‘Aruk Bani Ma’rad has been designated an Important Plant Area because of its richness of plant life compared to other parts of the Empty Quarter, and the presence of many plant species in the Arabian Peninsula. The Vasak Bani Ma’rad Reserve is located on the western edge of the Rab al-Khali (Empty Quarter), the largest sand desert in the world. The area is divided into three parts, namely – a primary nature reserve; An area where controlled grazing is permitted. And the hunting area.
