The statement proposes setting up of a Central Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) dedicated to ensuring effective implementation of the scheme.
The government has announced a major initiative to modernize various cooperative institutions in India.
With a budget of Rs 225.09 crore, the initiative will computerize 1,851 offices of state cooperative registrars and Agriculture and Rural Development Banks (ARDBs).
Additionally, it is part of a larger effort to computerize all Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) across the country.
Under this centrally sponsored scheme, a national unified software will be used to computerize ARDB in 13 states.
Further, the government plans to computerize the offices of the Registrar of Cooperatives in all states and Union Territories.
To monitor the successful implementation of the project, a Central Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) will be established. The main objective of this initiative is to improve access to services offered by cooperative departments and ARDB offices, promote transparency and consistency in their functioning. As a result, efficiency will increase and time will be saved.
The Central Government is taking active steps to strengthen the Cooperative Societies across the country. This new initiative represents an important step towards modernizing and streamlining cooperative institutions, making them more efficient and accessible to the public.
